Bateman had to be removed from Wednesday's game because of right hamstring tightness, so it's not a surprise he's not ready to play in Thursday's afternoon contest. Per Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca, Bateman was set to undergo an MRI Thursday morning. The results of that exam haven't been revealed, but the expectation is that the injury isn't serious. Myles Straw will handle center field for Toronto.
